How to determine cane length when placing an order

1. Measure your existing Cane.

If you are comfortable with your existing cane height, then this will be your best option. To measure your cane, measure from the lowest point on the top of the handle down to the bottom of the rubber tip.

2. Measure the Cane User

  1. Put on the users walking shoes.
  2. Have the user stand naturally upright as much as possible.
  3. Have their arms fall to the sides naturally with a normal relaxed bend at the elbow.

Cane Fitting

To shorten a walking cane

All canes that we sell come with a rubber tip. This tip may be removed by twisting or pulling it off.

The shaft of the cane should be cut flat. Most home supply stores have saws available and may cut it for free or for a nominal fee. Just make sure that the wood is cut flat. Some people use a miter box for an even cut.

Reattach the rubber tip and you are finished.

(Please note certain canes such as canes with brass tips or hollow shafts like sword canes may not be shortened. This will be noted for each item.)

PLEASE REMEMBER CANES CAN BE SHORTENED BUT THEY CANNOT BE LENGTHENED.
